Double Socket Upgrade with USB & USB-C Outlets

The customer wanted to upgrade an existing standard double electrical socket to a more convenient modern socket with integrated USB-A and USB-C charging outlets. The existing accessory provided two conventional 13A socket outlets but no dedicated USB charging ports, meaning separate plug-in chargers were required for compatible devices. The existing socket and connections were accessed so that the wiring could be checked before the replacement accessory was installed.

Our electrician accessed the existing double socket and removed the faceplate to inspect the wiring and terminal connections within the back box. The existing conductors and connections were checked before the old socket accessory was disconnected and removed. A new switched double socket incorporating integrated USB-A and USB-C charging outlets was then connected to the existing circuit and securely fitted to the wall. Once the replacement was installed, the socket was checked using an electrical socket tester to confirm that the connections were operating correctly. The integrated charging outlet was also demonstrated in use following installation, confirming that the upgraded socket was ready for normal operation.

The existing standard double socket was successfully replaced with a modern switched double socket featuring integrated USB-A and USB-C charging outlets. The completed installation provides the customer with two conventional power outlets while also allowing compatible phones and other devices to be charged directly without occupying a socket with a separate USB adaptor. The replacement accessory was secured in position and checked following installation, with the socket tester indicating the expected connection status.
