01 · Assessment
The customer contacted us regarding a cracked shower tray at a domestic property in South London, near Deptford. Water was escaping through the damaged tray and leaking underneath the shower area. Following a visual inspection, we identified a crack within the existing shower tray. Due to the condition of the tray and the resulting water ingress, repairing the existing tray was not considered a suitable long-term solution and replacement was recommended.
02 · Approach
We began by removing the existing silicone seals around the shower tray before carefully removing the glass shower panel and setting it aside for reinstallation. An access panel beneath the shower was then removed so that we could reach the shower waste and surrounding pipework. The existing waste was disconnected before the cracked shower tray was carefully removed. A new shower tray was installed in the existing space and levelled as accurately as the surrounding installation allowed. The shower waste was reconnected before the existing glass panel was carefully reinstated. We then applied fresh silicone around the shower tray, glass panel and access panel to provide a clean and properly sealed finish. Once the installation was complete, the shower was run and the waste connections and surrounding area were checked for visible leaks. The customer was advised not to use the shower for 24 hours so that the new silicone could fully cure.
03 · Result
The damaged shower tray was successfully removed and replaced with a new tray, resolving the issue caused by the cracked existing installation. The shower waste was reconnected, the existing glass panel was reinstated and the surrounding areas were freshly resealed. The shower was then tested following completion, with no visible leaks identified during our checks. The customer was advised to leave the shower unused for 24 hours to allow the new silicone to fully cure before returning it to normal use.
